Why Visit Osoyoos?

The short answer: there is nowhere else in Canada quite like it. Here’s what makes Osoyoos genuinely special:

Things to Do in Osoyoos

Osoyoos Lake & Beaches

The lake is the undisputed heart of Osoyoos in summer. The main public beach runs along the north shore of town and is well-maintained, with gentle entry into the water excellent for families. Gyro Park Beach on the west side is quieter and popular with locals. Haynes Point Provincial Park, a narrow spit jutting into the lake, offers camping right on the water and some of the most scenic swimming spots in the province.

Kayaking, paddleboarding, and boat rentals are all available in town. Local boat rental operators include Lakefront Sports Centre (pontoons and speedboats, 25+ years) and Spirit Beach Watersports (pontoons, kayaks, PWC, May–Sept). See our full water sports guide →

Nk’Mip Desert Cultural Centre

One of the most unique attractions in the entire Okanagan. Run by the Osoyoos Indian Band, this centre sits on a genuine desert plateau above town with sweeping views of the lake. The exhibits on the Syilx people and the desert ecosystem are genuinely excellent, and the desert trail walk through sagebrush and cactus is unlike anything else in Canada. Budget 2–3 hours and don’t skip it.

Wineries

Osoyoos and the surrounding area have some of the best wineries in BC. Our top picks near Osoyoos:

Cherries arrive first (late June through July), followed by apricots, then peaches and nectarines in August. Several farms offer U-pick, where you harvest directly from the trees.

Some well-known stands near Osoyoos include the Okanagan Desert Fruit Stand and several family-run operations along the south end of Hwy 97. Ask locals which stands they’re buying from that week freshness varies by week and variety.
