The Okanagan has a wide range of hotel accommodation, from national chain properties to independently owned motels that have been serving summer visitors for decades. This guide covers the reliable picks in each town — the places that deliver on their promise and won’t leave you hunting for a laundromat or a working air conditioner in July.
For luxury resort stays, see the resorts guide. For a house or cottage on the lake, see vacation rentals.
Osoyoos Hotels
Osoyoos has the highest concentration of accommodation in the South Okanagan, driven by its status as the warmest lake destination in Canada. Prices spike sharply in July and August — book at least 6–8 weeks ahead for peak summer.
Best Western Plus Osoyoos Hotel & Suites
The most reliable full-service hotel in town. Pool, good rooms, walking distance to the main beach. Consistent quality and genuinely friendly staff. Gets booked fast in summer. One of the best-value options in town for what you get.
Check Rates in Osoyoos →Osoyoos Budget Tips
- Holiday Inn Express Osoyoos — reliable chain quality, pool, good breakfast included
- Numerous independent motels along Hwy 97 — quality varies; read recent reviews carefully before booking
- Consider staying in Oliver (20 min north) where prices are 20–30% lower with the same wine country access
Oliver Hotels
Oliver has limited hotel options compared to Osoyoos, but it is a genuinely better base for wine touring — centrally located between the Golden Mile wineries and Osoyoos. Lower prices than Osoyoos for similar quality.
Best Western Plus Oliver Inn
The main full-service hotel in Oliver. Clean, reliable, pool, and within easy reach of the Golden Mile Bench wineries. Staff are knowledgeable about local winery recommendations. Good value for the South Okanagan wine country base.
Check Rates in Oliver →Penticton Hotels
Penticton sits between Okanagan Lake and Skaha Lake, making it one of the best-positioned towns in the valley. The hotel selection is diverse and prices are reasonable compared to peak-season Kelowna.
Penticton Ramada by Wyndham
Right on Okanagan Lake beach — excellent location for summer. Pool, hot tub, kitchenette suites available. Dated in places but the beachfront access makes it one of the best mid-range picks in the city.
Penticton Hotel & Conference Centre
Central location, good amenities, and reliable service. The pool and restaurant make it self-contained. Often has better availability than lakefront properties in peak season.
Cannery Brewing Penticton Hostel
Not a hotel, but worth mentioning for budget travellers — attached to Cannery Brewing, a well-regarded craft brewery. Beds available in summer, located on the waterfront channel between the two lakes.
Compare Penticton Hotels →Kelowna Hotels
Kelowna has the widest hotel selection in the valley, from budget motels to premium branded properties. The downtown waterfront area has the best positioning — walkable to City Park beach, restaurants, and the cultural district.
Hotel Eldorado
A historic boutique hotel on the Okanagan Lake waterfront in Kelowna — the oldest hotel in the city, with genuine character. Marina access, rooftop patio, and an excellent restaurant. Not the largest rooms, but the atmosphere is unmatched in the valley. Book well in advance.
Prestige Harbourfront Resort Kelowna
Right on the Kelowna waterfront. Consistent quality, pool, reliable service. Strong choice for families or business travellers who want central location without resort pricing.
Accent Inns Kelowna
A BC-based independent chain with a well-earned loyal following. Good value, comfortable rooms, and friendly local staff. The Kelowna location is central without waterfront premium pricing. Good pick for budget-conscious visitors.
Sandman Hotel & Suites Kelowna
Reliable large-format hotel near Orchard Park Mall. Large rooms, pool, restaurant. Better value than downtown properties if you have a car and don’t need walkability.
Compare Kelowna Hotels →Vernon Hotels
Vernon has fewer hotel options than Kelowna but good selection for its size. Most hotels are along the Hwy 97 corridor or near the city centre. Proximity to Kalamalka Lake is the premium variable — pay more for a lakeview property if that’s a priority.
Best Western Plus Vernon Lodge & Conference Centre
The most established full-service hotel in downtown Vernon. Indoor pool, full breakfast, good conference facilities. Central location within walking distance of restaurants and shopping. Solid reliable choice for Vernon.
Courtyard by Marriott Vernon
Newer, well-maintained property near the highway. Modern rooms, consistent Marriott quality, good for Bonvoy points accumulation. Slightly outside downtown but convenient for road trippers.
Adventure Bay Resort (near Kal Lake)
Smaller resort-style property near Kalamalka Lake with direct beach access. Limited rooms but excellent setting. Book months ahead for summer — this fills fast once word gets out about the lake.
Compare Vernon Hotels →Booking Tips
- Book July/August at least 6 weeks ahead. The Okanagan is Canada’s most popular domestic summer destination. Properties fill up.
- Shoulder season value. June and September offer 20–40% lower rates, still excellent weather, and far fewer crowds.
- Read recent reviews. Independent motels in particular can vary — a well-reviewed property two years ago may have changed ownership since.
- Pool is worth paying for in summer. Temperatures regularly hit 38–40°C; a hotel pool is not a luxury, it’s practical.
- Free cancellation is worth the extra few dollars — Okanagan summer weather is excellent but not guaranteed.
